ISE’s series gasoline hybrid-electric system is an excellent choice for customers who want greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

Our series gasoline hybrid system uses the light weight Ford V10 gasoline engine and is the only commercially available hybrid-electric drive system for transit buses using gasoline fuel. Our gasoline hybrid system produces lower emissions than any competing diesel hybrid drive system. This system remains the only gasolinetransit bus propulsion system to be certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as an alternative fuel that does not require installation and maintenance of an infrastructure for handling gaseous fuels such as natural gas or propane.

  • High-volume production and availability of gasoline engine
  • Simple and safe exhaust after-treatment
  • Best-in-class exhaust emissions
  • Excellent fuel economy
  • AQMD certified alternative fuel system
  • Series hybrid configuration benefits
  • Smooth and quiet operation
  • Stop-and-go driving: optimal for low speed duty cycle with repeated stops

More than 250 transit buses have been ordered using our gasoline hybrid system. More than 100 of these buses are already in fleet operation and have completed more than 3.5 million miles in revenue service.
