Job Description:

This Senior Mechanical Thermal/CFD Engineer role will actively participate and take the lead in our CFD & Thermal Analysis with respect to the engineering, design and development of our unique and advanced technologies and their integration to support the application of Hybrid-Electric Drive Systems for Heavy-Duty vehicles.

The principal role of this individual will be to provide technical design, packaging and analysis leadership for the development of Heavy-Duty Hybrid Vehicle Energy Storage Systems (Battery and Ultra-capacitor packs).

This individual would be exposed to all aspects of our Energy Storage Development and Design.

Applicant must be a motivated self-starter with excellent communication, proven project leadership skills and a strong knowledge of the automotive industry, with a deep passion for original design.

Duties would range from original concept & engineering design through production and final vehicle testing. The successful applicant will gain extensive, hands-on experience in the design and operation of electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.

Position Requirements:

  • BSME mandatory - MSME preferred
  • 4+ years CAD Design experience (8,000 hrs) preferably with Pro-E Wildfire 2.0
  • 3+ years Thermal Analysis and CFD experience (Star Pro-E, Star CCM+ or equivalent)
  • Experience with Heavy-duty Vehicles such as Class 7, 8 Trucks and Transit buses
  • Experience with Engines, Thermal Systems, complex Mechanical Systems, P & ID

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with Battery and/or Ultra Capacitor technology
  • Experience with large heavy duty vehicle system design
  • Experience with Air Conditioning and/or other active Cooling Systems
  • Structural Design Experience with FEA Experience is a plus
  • Component Design and Large Assembly Management is critical
  • Understanding of Machining and Structural Fabrication procedures
